Protein in the Kitchen
Symposium PresentationIn today’s fast-paced life, many Canadians are preparing less food at home and lack the knowledge and skills needed to prepare delicious, wholesome meals. As health professionals, we need to be able to educate people on healthy eating in a motivating, fun way. If we can provide our clients with real, practical examples of how to prepare whole foods, they will be more willing to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Facilitating cooking classes and demonstrations for clients is an enjoyable and hands-on approach to showcasing how dietitians are food and nutrition experts.
In this presentation, we discuss how to incorporate high-quality protein sources into easy-to-prepare recipes for your clients. Each recipe emphasizes useful cooking techniques that you can share with your clients to help them increase their skills and confidence in the kitchen. Key culinary and nutritional teaching moments help provide examples of how working with food can be an excellent way to convey messages about healthy eating.
